In general, all whiplash claims can be classified by their severity as:

Minor Whiplash

Recovery can take up to a couple of years for minor neck damage.

Expected Compensation amount is around £4,000 - £6,000

Moderate Whiplash

If there is continuous acute pain, hardship of movement, stiffness, etc. but ultimate full recovery is expected, then your whiplash claim will be viewed as moderate.

Serious Whiplash

The incident has resulted in cervical spondylitis, continuous acute pain, and difficulty in movement, requiring further or continuous treatment. Full recovery may not be possible.

Severe Whiplash

The incident has resulted in fractures or damage to the soft tissues which limit your ability to move or work.

Expected Compensation amount £21,000 - £45,000

Very Severe Whiplash

This will include severe disabilities such as paralysis of the neck or other parts of the body resulting in permanent inability to work.

Expected Compensation amount £45,000 - £140,000
